The Salt Flats of Uyuni is by far Bolivia’s main attraction as it represents a unique experience, impossible to equal anywhere else in the world.

Salar de Uyuni or Uyuni Salt flats, located in Bolivia, is considered one of the most extreme and remarkable places in all of South America.The largest salt flats on earth, the Salar de Uyuni spans over 10.5 kilometres (4,000+miles). In the wet season, a layer of rainwater creates a mirror-like surface as smooth as glass. In the dry season, its geometric salt patterns imprint the earth, seemingly stretching beyond the horizon.

It was part of a prehistoric salt lake, Lago Minchín, which once covered most of southwest Bolivia. When it dried up, it left a couple of seasonal puddles and several salt pans, including Salar de Uyuni. The savage beauty of this vast salt desert makes it one of South America’s most awe-inspiring spectacles.



At 9:30 a.m. departure from Uyuni to visit the train cemetery, we continue to the community of Colchani, observation of preparation of iodized salt in rustic form, salt crafts, entrance to the salt flat where typical landscapes of salt extraction are observed, Salt pyramids, salt eyes  and first hotel “Playa Blanca” salt. Lunch in the middle of the Salar and visit to Isla Sajchilla 20 minute walk around millenary cactuses, we continue with the visit to the Museum of the Chantani mummies and stone forms ending the tour in Coquesa.

Accommodation in “Tambo Coquesa Lodge” return to the salt flat to observe the sunset accompanied by a unique coca cocktail in the world. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at 08:00 am departure to the Incahuasi island, with giant cacti in a volcanic rock habitat, visit community of San Juan, natural viewpoint of Ollague volcano (semi-active), Cañapa lagoon and finally Hedionda lagoon.

Accommodation in Los Flamencos Eco-hotel, walk around the lagoon, where you can see the three varieties of flamingos meters away. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast. Departure at 06:30 am to visit Laguna Honda, Chiarkota, Siloli Desert. In the Eduardo Abaroa Tree of Stone Reserve, Laguna Colorada, geysers, thermal waters, Dalí desert and Green lagoon. Return to Uyuni through the Valley of Rocks, authentic villages such as Villa Alota, Culpina K, mining town of San Cristóbal and its church. Arrival in Uyuni at 6:30 p.m.

  • In the rainy season (December – March) you may not visit Incahuasi Island since the Salar is flooded so the car will enter as far as possible
  • The landscape becomes a giant mirror that reflects the colors of the sky and you can take amazing pictures.
